Focused lead and solder work for panels affected by fatigue, failed joints, movement or a broader restoration scope.
Lead and solder are part of the window’s structure, not merely decorative outlines. Isolated joints may be repaired when the surrounding network is stable. A panel with widespread fatigue may need complete releading as part of a documented restoration.
QUESTIONS
Sometimes, but repeated joint failure may be a symptom of movement or widespread lead fatigue. The surrounding panel must be evaluated.
The purpose is generally to retain serviceable original glass while rebuilding the structural lead network. Replacement is limited to missing or impractical-to-repair pieces.
Timing depends on access, panel size, condition, required materials, studio work and coordination with the property. A realistic schedule follows the project review and assessment.
